Ross was Canadian

Though on the question of patriotism he probably leaned towards Samuel Johnson's views on scoundrels, Ross took pride in being Canadian, loved his country's natural beauty, its values of inclusion and its art — the Group of Seven!
He would never turn down a dish of poutine or an opportunity to ski.
He was certainly living proof that Canadians really are nicer than many.
It was a thrill and a high point of his career as a cameraman to shoot Expo 86 and the Calgary Winter Olympics in 1988.
He felt fortunate to live most of his adult life in Vancouver, a cosmopolitan city with unparalleled natural beauty, surrounded by cool and creative friends.
